Maryse Décarie-Daigneault joined Dionne Schulze’s team as a lawyer in November 2017. She is particularly involved in cases involving ancestral rights claims, as well as specific claims and reparations for historical abuses.

Before joining the team, Maryse worked as a law clerk at the Quebec Court of Appeal. She also wrote a master’s thesis on state violence and transitional justice from a legal pluralism perspective. She has worked as a supervising attorney at UQAM’s International clinic for the defense of human rights, particularly in cases involving reparations for survivors of sexual violence.

Extended Bio

During her studies, Maryse worked with an organization of Mexican indigenous women for the defense of sexual and reproductive rights. She has also been involved with the Center for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism at McGill University, she co-founded the “Collective Féminismes et Droit” at UQAM and volunteered at the NGOs Action Refugees Montreal and “Justice Transnationales Extractives”, the latter being an NGO centered on environmental and social issues relating to the mining industry.
